Having recognized the need for a comprehensive solution to the issue of wastewater collection and treatment in the area of the Zagreb and Glavničica ​​agglomerations, i.e. for the following purposes:
  • increasing the number of inhabitants connected to the public drainage system
  • increasing the number of new and already existing connections to the wastewater treatment plant with an adequate purification level,
  • protecting the subsoil and the Sava Aquifer,
  • protecting wastewater recipients (watercourses),
  • reducing the risk of flooding buildings and associated facilities,
and for the purpose of alignment with the water and utility directives, directives of environmental protection and of sustainable development, Vodoopskrba i odvodnja d.o.o. concluded a Grant Agreement for the implementation of the "Drafting project and study documentation and an application package for EU co-funding involving the Zagreb agglomeration and the Glavničica agglomeration" project within the Environmental Protection Operational Program 2007-2013 in December 2014, and following the project proposal within "Restricted call for proposals EN.2.1.11. - Generating a stock of water and utility projects", which was announced by the Croatian Ministry of Agriculture in April 2014.

The project objective is to prepare project and tender documentation for EU co-funding in the 2014-2020 Programming Period within Structural and Investment Funds.
