March 22nd - World Water Day
The General Assembly of United Nations declared March 22 as WORLD WATER DAY in, not so long, 1993 and has been celebrated every year since.
The main goal is to draw attention to the importance and the conservation of drinking water resources, as well as raising the level of environmental awareness and sustainable development and drawing attention to issues related to water and water resources.
2021 is the year of water valuation, so this year's theme of World Water Day is "What does water mean to you", all in order to give each individual the opportunity to explain the importance of water for their own home and family life, cultural practices, well-being and local environment. In households, schools and workplaces, water can mean health, hygiene, dignity and productivity. In cultural, religious and spiritual places, water can mean a connection to creativity, community and it self, and in natural spaces water can mean peace, harmony and preservation.
Since the beginning of the Zagreb waterworks (1878), the citizens of this city are consuming water which, due to the structure of the soil of the Sava aquifer, has extremely high quality and is also bacteriologically and chemically healthy. Croatia is one of the Europe's countries richest in water resources, and Vodoopskrba i odvodnja Ltd. as a public supplier of drinking water in the area of Zagreb, Samobor, Sveti Nedjelja and Stupnik, daily 24/7 takes care of regular supply and high quaity of drinking water.
By celebrating all the different ways water benefits our lives, we can value it properly and preserve it effectively for future generations to come.
