Museum of Water Supply
The Water Supply Museum was opened when Vodoopskrba i odvodnja d.o.o. marked the 100th anniversary of the water supply. One-storey building on the Mala Mlaka water mill was used and prepared for museum's needs. Expositors are placed in the outer and inner spaces. In the outer space, larger exhibits from the water supply are more interesting (old overhead hydrant, manual excavator and such) while the interior layout of the exhibition is divided into several units:
- documents from the town history and development of water supply (solemn charter on the establishment of Zagreb water supply issued and signed by Austro-Hungarian Emperor Franjo II and Croatian Banus Mažuranić),
- a full-on caption of the water supply system (pumping and water use, measurement techniques, system maintenance).
The whole idea of the museum was adapted to the amount of displayed material, and the setting itself was designed so that new exhibits could be added to permanent display.
The significance of the museum, which is a unique type of museum in this part of Europe beside the Viennese waterworks museum, should be seen as a presentation-historical development in terms of presenting the most interesting schemes - projects related to the expansion of the water supply area, technical development, presented on concrete models of technological development and the technologies that this development has followed, and also the educational development of skilled staff and students who are taught through exposed exhibits.
Visiting the Museum is possible in groups, with prior agreement.
